OSU U11 Girls Force Champions in Oshawa Tournament of Champions

In recognition of being crowned the 2009 ERSL Premier Champions the U11 Force girls were invited to participate in the 2009 Tournament of Champions on the weekend of September 26 & 27th. At the tournament OSU faced other 2009 league finalists from Oshawa, East York and Mississauga Dixie.

In preparation for their 2010 season, where the OSU Force 98 girls will switch from 7 aside soccer to full field soccer, the Tournament of Champions was played as a full field, 11 aside tournament.

As all the opponents were from the Toronto area they had already played all season 9 aside and 11 aside soccer at the U11 age group level. The tournament presented an interesting challenge for the OSU Force 98 girls in establishing themselves as a force in 11 aside soccer following a successful season that saw them go undefeated in League play and Champions of the ERSL Cup competition.

In round robin play the OSU girls earned shut-out victories over Oshawa, East York and Mississauga Dixie earning them a spot in the tournament final. In the final against Oshawa, the girls elevated their game to another level and emerged as tournament champions with a 3:0 win.

Indoor training for the 98 girls starts in mid November and the focus will be the continuing development of the player and preparing the girls for the 2010 season with new challenges in 11 aside soccer.
