Ottawa South United’s Youth Recreational Program provides recreational play and development
opportunities for players between the ages of 4 and 18. This house league program is a key
component in the development of all participants in our sport, including players, coaches, and
referees.
The summer children’s recreational program (U4-U7) includes 11 weeks of fun-filled soccer games,
pre-game practices, and a year-end tournament with lunch and medals. All players ( U6-U18)receive
a uniform (numbered jersey, shorts, and socks) and a team photo as part of the package.
Players in the U4 & U5 proghram receive only a jersey. In addition all players U4 to U7 get a soccer
ball. [Children Programs Details]
The summer youth recreational program (U8-U18) includes 13 weeks of fun-filled soccer games,
pre-game practices, and a year-end tournament with lunch and medals. All players receive a
uniform (numbered jersey, shorts, and socks) and a team photo as part of the package, and
U8 players also get a soccer ball. OSU provides trained referees for games from U11 to U18.
[Youth Programs Details]
Players in all age groups need shin pads for their safety on the field.
Players ages 6 and up also require soccer shoes (cleats) for their safety.
Soccer shoes are optional for ages 4 and 5.
VOLUNTEERS
Our program coordinators, team coaches, assistant coaches, and managers are all parent volunteers from the community. We could not run the program without their efforts, so please support them with patience and understanding. If you are interested in taking an active role in your child’s team,
we offer free recreational coaching clinics on Saturday May 1, May 8, and May 15. Please consider volunteering your time to make this a successful season! It doesn't work without you.

PARENTS
Parents play an important role in our children’s soccer development. In addition to getting them to
the field, we have a tradition of parents providing oranges or watermelon at the half-time break, and
popsicles or freezies after the game. Your team manager will contact you to coordinate the schedule
for your team. [Link to Parent’s info page and schedule]
Important items of note:
- Players cannot wear hats or jewelry during the game, including earrings of any kind.
- For U9 and up, we request that parents be on the opposite sideline from players during the game, to encourage players to stay with their team.
- Please respect our referees and demonstrate the behaviour you would like to see from your child. We recruit many referees each year in order to cover the nearly 1,000 games of the summer season, often youth players from the club. They are also learning their role, so
respect their decisions (right or wrong) and avoid dissenting calls from the sidelines
Looking forward to another great summer soccer season!
